Role Profiling

Role profiling is key to the base pay component of total rewards. It is an evaluation process for determining the relative worth of jobs within an organization. Traditional job descriptions describe work according to specific duties and tasks that can change considerably over time. Role profiles describe the work that the organization needs done. They are much broader, are relatively stable over time and require less time to administer. Role profiling also allows for a more flexible workforce, as it focuses on results rather than on tasks. Employees have more flexibility on how they get the job done, and they can more easily shift their actual day-to-day duties.
